How to become the person companies hire to build their AI systems — without being a developer, without a big team, and without years of experience
“The biggest transfer of business value in the next decade won’t go to AI companies. It will go to the humans who know how to install AI into businesses that don’t.”
WHO THIS IS FOR
This edition is for you if:
You understand AI tools well enough to use them daily — but haven’t figured out how to get paid serious money for that knowledge
You’re a freelancer, consultant, or agency owner looking for a high-ticket offer that’s genuinely in demand
You want to help real businesses get real results — and earn $3K–$10K per engagement doing it
You’ve been watching the AI wave build and you’re ready to stop spectating
You do not need to be a developer. You do not need an existing audience. You do not need a large team.
What you need is a system. This edition gives you one.
SECTION 1 — THE OPPORTUNITY WINDOW (AND WHY IT’s OPEN RIGHT NOW)
Here’s a number worth sitting with: less than 5% of small and mid-sized businesses have any kind of structured AI workflow inside their operations.
That means 95% of businesses — the local law firm, the $3M e-commerce brand, the regional insurance agency, the 20-person marketing company — are running on manual processes that AI could automate, accelerate, or dramatically improve.
They know AI exists. They’ve read the headlines. Their employees are using ChatGPT on the side. But nobody in the organisation has sat down, mapped the actual workflows, identified the highest-leverage opportunities, and built something that works.
That gap is your business.
Why businesses don’t do this themselves
It’s not laziness. It’s a very rational set of problems:
Nobody owns it. The CEO doesn’t have time. The marketing manager doesn’t know where to start. The ops lead thinks it’s the IT department’s job. It falls through the cracks.
They don’t know what’s possible. Most business owners think AI means ChatGPT for writing emails. They have no idea that the same technology could automate their lead follow-up, generate their client reports, screen their job applicants, or summarise their weekly sales calls.
They’ve had bad experiences. Someone on the team tried a tool for two weeks, got inconsistent results, and gave up. The conclusion was “AI isn’t ready” — when the real problem was no system, no prompts, no training.
They don’t trust generic advice. A YouTube tutorial on “5 AI tools for business” doesn’t account for their workflows, their team, their specific bottlenecks. They need someone who will look at their actual business and tell them exactly what to do.
That person is you.
The market timing argument
Every major technology shift creates a short window where early specialists earn extraordinary fees simply for being ahead of the curve. We are in that window right now with AI.
In two to three years, AI implementation will be commoditised. There will be packaged solutions for every industry, SaaS tools with guided onboarding, and junior consultants undercutting on price.
Right now, the person who can walk into a business, identify where AI creates the most value, and install a working system in 30 days is worth $3K–$10K to that business — often many times over in time and money saved.
The window is open. The question is whether you walk through it.
SECTION 2 — WHAT YOU ACTUALLY SELL (Offers, Packages & Pricing)
The biggest mistake new AI consultants make is trying to sell “AI consulting.” That’s too vague to command premium fees.
What you actually sell is a specific outcome, delivered in a specific timeframe, for a specific type of business.
Here are the three core offer structures that work:
OFFER 1 — The AI Audit ($500–$1,500)
What it is: A 90-minute deep-dive into a business’s operations to identify their top 5 AI opportunities. Delivered as a written report with prioritised recommendations.
What’s included:
Pre-audit intake questionnaire
90-minute discovery call (structured around their workflows)
AI Opportunity Report (5 opportunities, ranked by ROI and ease of implementation)
Recommended tools and estimated time savings for each
A 30-minute debrief call
Who buys it: Business owners who are curious but don’t know where to start. They want clarity before committing to a larger engagement.
The business logic: The audit is a low-risk entry point that almost always leads to an implementation offer. Price it to be an easy “yes” — and treat it as a paid discovery process, not a standalone service.
OFFER 2 — The AI Implementation Sprint ($3,000–$6,000)
What it is: A 30-day engagement where you install one or two AI systems inside a client’s business — fully built, tested, documented, and handed over.
What’s included:
Full workflow mapping and AI opportunity identification
Build and configuration of 1–2 AI-powered workflows
Custom prompt library for their specific use cases
Team training session (live or recorded)
30-day post-delivery email support
Standard operating procedures document for each workflow
Typical workflows delivered:
AI-powered sales outreach system
Automated customer support response drafts
Content production pipeline (blog, social, email)
AI-assisted hiring and screening workflow
Weekly reporting and summarisation system
Lead qualification and CRM enrichment
Who buys it: Business owners who’ve done the audit (or already know they need help) and are ready to move. Typically $1M–$10M revenue businesses with a lean team.
OFFER 3 — The AI Retainer ($2,000–$4,000/month)
What it is: Ongoing AI strategy and systems support — you become their fractional AI officer.
What’s included:
Monthly AI audit of new tools and opportunities relevant to their business
2 new workflow builds or optimisations per month
Unlimited async support (Slack or email) for AI-related questions
Monthly strategy call (60 minutes)
Access to your prompt library and any new systems you develop
Who buys it: Clients who’ve completed an implementation sprint and want to keep evolving. Also larger businesses that want senior AI guidance without a full-time hire.
The business logic: Two retainer clients at $3K/month = $6K MRR before any project work. Four clients = $12K MRR. This is where the model becomes a real business.
PACKAGING PRINCIPLE
Always lead with the audit. Price it low enough to remove friction but high enough to filter out tyre-kickers. The audit creates trust, reveals scope, and makes the implementation offer feel like a natural next step — not a hard sell.
SECTION 3 — THE AI CONSULTING WORKFLOW (End-to-End Process)
This is the operating system for every engagement. Follow it in order and you’ll deliver consistently excellent results with minimal stress.
